Magna Mining Reports High-Grade Hit at Levack Mine, Including Gold and PGMs

Date:

Magna Mining has announced a significant drill intersection at its Levack Mine in Sudbury, Ontario, returning 29.7% copper equivalent over 3.4 metres with notable platinum, palladium, and gold credits.

Magna Mining has released drill results from the R2 Footwall Zone at the historic Levack Mine in the Sudbury Basin, reporting an intersection grading 29.7% copper equivalent over 3.4 metres. The interval includes 9.4% copper, 2.3% nickel, 19.8 grams per tonne gold, and 8.8 grams per tonne combined platinum and palladium.

The Sudbury Basin is one of the world’s most prolific polymetallic mining districts, known for producing copper, nickel, and platinum-group elements (PGEs) from deep footwall zones. Footwall-style deposits in Sudbury are typically high-grade and structurally complex, making drill intercepts of this tenor noteworthy for junior miners working to expand resources.

The platinum and palladium component of the intersection stands out. At current PGE prices, even modest gram-per-tonne grades can add substantial economic value to a copper-nickel system. The 8.8 g/t combined platinum-plus-palladium, alongside nearly 20 g/t gold, means precious metals are carrying a meaningful share of the overall copper equivalent calculation in this interval.

Magna Mining has been consolidating legacy Sudbury assets, and results like this support the case that historic mines in the basin still hold exploration upside. Sudbury’s infrastructure — established smelters, experienced workforce, and road access — keeps development costs lower than greenfield projects in remote jurisdictions, which matters when translating drill results into potential economics.

It is worth noting that a single drill intercept, however high-grade, does not define a resource on its own. Continuity, orientation, and the number of supporting holes are all factors that will determine whether this intersection represents an isolated pocket or part of a broader mineralized system. Investors and analysts will be watching for follow-up holes in the R2 Footwall Zone to gauge true scale.

Further drilling at Levack will be the key test of whether this high-grade hit reflects zone-wide continuity or a localized feature.
